Rav Dovid Tevele Schiff (מחבר לשון זהב)

Rabbeinu Dovid Tevele Schiff was born in Frankfurt, and learned there under Rav Yaakov Paprish (author of Shev Yaakov) and Rav Yaakov Yehoshua Falk (author of Pnei Yehoshua). After he got married, Rav Dovid became a Rav in Worms and remained in that position for 12 years, until his appointment as a Dayan in his hometown of Frankfurt. He served in that position until his appointment as Chief Rabbi of England in 1766. The great Rav Nosson Adler was a disciple of Rav Schiff. Rav Dovid Schiff passed away in 1792. His sefer Lashon Zahav was published posthumously in 1822 by his great-nephew Rav Gavriel Adler (Av Bais Din of Beyersdorf).
