Rav Nosson Maz (מחבר בנין שלמה)

Rabbeinu Nosson Maz was born in Frankfurt in 1720. He studied in Frankfurt, first under Rav Yaakov Paprish (author of Shev Yaakov), and following his passing, under his succesor, Rav Yaakov Yehoshua Falk (author of Pnei Yehoshua). At age thirty Rav Nosson was appointed as the Av Bais Din of Frankfurt, and after the passing of Rav Falk, he was appointed as the Rav of the city. After being offered the position as Rabbi of Darmstadt, the members of the Kehilla in Frankfurt made a counter-offer to convince him to stay, leading to Rav Nosson assuming the additional position of Rosh Mesivta. His sefer Binyan Shlomo consists of six volumes, however, only the first volume (Meseches Sanhedrin) was published in his lifetime (1784). Rav Nosson Maz passed away in 1794.
